“I found that the camera was a comforting companion. It opened up new worlds, and gave me access to people's most intimate moments. I discovered the privilege of seeing life in all its complexity, the thrill of learning something new everyday. When I was behind a camera, it was the only place in the world I wanted to be.”
A few random facts about me...
I FOSTER KITTENS
I fostered kittens last year through Little Wanderers NYC (littlewanderersnyc.org/). It was difficult (because it was my first time) but I ended up a foster fail with my new buddy Raz, who I love too much. LWNYC is an amazing organization who helps every single cat regardless of cost, time & energy. If you can help them, please visit their website + donate. This is my favorite portrait of Raz, Thanks Jorge:)
I WAS A NANNY
It was one of the most rewarding jobs and I cherish the people I met + the lessons I learned so much. I believe it's why wedding photography comes naturally to me... I've had lots of practice feeling like family for the day :)
I'M FROM ALABAMA
I've lived in NY for almost 15 years now but I'm originally from Beulah, Alabama. I visit the south often to see everyone (especially these two pictured here :) and to eat food that I miss soooo much.
I 🖤 LIVE MUSIC.
I still love going to concerts + music festivals. I've been lucky to live in NY where there is always live music happening. I've seen many bands multiple times, one over 100 times (which is crazy that I ever had that much time :) I met tons of cool people going to so many shows and I've known some of those friends for over 10 years now. I've even photographed some of their weddings :)
I PHOTOGRAPHED A RODEO.
It was easily the best decision I made for myself (thank you to Kirsten Lewis for being the greatest mentor). I traveled to Guadalajara to document a female rodeo group, did monthly projects + long critiques, and met some incredibly talented photographers. It was a lot of tough but very creative work and I'm grateful for the experience.
